I am moved by each person's path to open to their own healing. It is a great privilege to act as facilitator, co-explorer, witness and partner in this endeavor. Using various schools and methods of acupuncture and its related practices (diagnosis via the senses, touch, moxibustion, cupping, guasha, plum blossom, essential oils, crystals, magnets) we arrive at an understanding of the body-mind pattern and its treatment. I often prescribe Chinese herbs to address acute and chronic patterns. Modalities are selected based on your sensitivities and needs, as well as the levels we choose to address in treatment.
My background as a social worker and Buddhist meditator has led me to explore an interactive model of looking at energy imbalances creating problematic symptoms; this is the essence of Chinese Medicine. The impact of chronic illness and our environment is, as well, deeply involved in our healing work together.
Diagnostic findings are enhanced by employing "Contemporary Pulse Diagnosis", a method begun by Dr. John Shen and developed by Dr. Leon Hammer. I am one of the few practitioners certified to practice this skill and offer sessions dedicated to pulse-taking. This also gives us information for crafting subsequent treatments.
